National Youth Hunt Day

Thanks to all the hunters who participated in the National Youth Hunt Day. Special thanks to Delta Waterfowl for their contribution. Together we had 10 youth hunters participating through out Carroll County.

CLICK HERE OR GO TO THE "CONTACT US" PAGE AND LET US KNOW YOU WANT TO JOIN OUR SPORTSMANS CLUB. WE'LL KEEP YOU UP TO DATE WITH EMAILS ABOUT WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE WORLD OF WATERFOWL HUNTING. WE'LL ALSO LET YOU KNOW FIRST ABOUT SPECIAL DEALS GOING ON WITH US.

Come and hunt with us at Blackwater. Blackwater Sportsman is based in Central Maryland which is a major wintering area for geese and ducks. We have hunting grounds in Carroll and Howard county that have provided us with incredible Canada Goose hunts. We also hunt on Maryland's famous Eastern Shore. There we have some of the most amazing action packed duck hunts. Our guides know the area and love what they do. Their goal is to put you on the birds, and make your hunt one that you will remember.

Scouting Report: October 13th

We are starting to see geese gather in larger groups. These large groups of geese are working our fields right now!! On the eastern shore we had a flight of 200 woodies and teals come in the other morning. We are seeing a strong growth of grasses and other habitat the birds need.

Scouting Report: October 24th

Check out the scouting photos from this morning. Not pictured are the 200 + geese just out of sight of the camera.

At a distance of about 100 yards, you can still pick out at least 16 geese in this photo.

I was trying to get the 200+ birds in the shot that are just on the opposite downhill slope.

Sorry I cut the rest of this group out of the frame, but they caught me off guard buzzing right over my head to get in the field.

Scouting Report: October 28th

When you choose an outfitter you need to make sure they are doing their homework. We have always said that we spend more time scouting than hunting, and we wouldn't have it any other way. That time we spend in the different fields we hunt, pays off by giving us the best chances at having an action packed hunt. We are seeing large numbers of birds actively feeding on our fields. The numbers are growing and with a 300 acre lake no more than 2 miles away, we will soon have thousands of birds in our flights. Check out the video from our scout work today by clicking HERE.   See you in the field.

Scouting Report: November 20th

The second week of this split in the Canada goose season has found an increase in the number of geese working in the area. The weather is finally changing giving us a taste of true fall/winter hunting, with temperatures this week at or near freezing at night and in the 40's during the day. The colder temperatures result in more movement, and when you are positioned around such large numbers of geese; it can provide an action packed hunt. We'll be in the field Thanksgiving morning. Happy Thanksgiving to all, and we'll see you in the field.

Our mission is to put you on the birds now!
